Getting Started
Set up your profile
Head to your profile page and add your skills, preferred roles, locations, salary expectations, and whether you need visa sponsorship. The more complete your profile, the sharper your job matches. You can edit anything later.
Upload your resume
Drop a PDF or DOCX on the profile page. Hiro parses it automatically, extracts your skills, work history, and education, then pre-fills your profile. You can then review and tweak before saving.
Finish the onboarding wizard
First-time users see a 6-step wizard that walks you through resume upload, profile setup, your first matches, and a quick tour of swipe, auto-apply, and keyword gap analysis.
Finding Jobs
Browse your matches
The /jobs page shows every job Hiro has found, sorted by fit score. Use the filters to narrow by remote, salary, seniority, visa sponsorship, posted date, and more.
Swipe mode
Prefer a faster flow? Open /jobs/swipe and breeze through cards one at a time. Swipe right to apply, left to pass, up to save. Swipe mode respects your daily apply limit and the same fit scoring as the main board.
Fit scores explained
Every job gets a 0 to 100 fit score. We weigh skill overlap, role match, location, salary range, and visa sponsorship. 80+ is a strong match, 60 to 79 is a decent fit, below 60 is a stretch. You can click any fit badge to see the detailed breakdown.
Semantic search
The search bar uses embeddings, so you can describe what you want in plain English. Try 'remote senior backend roles at climate startups' and Hiro will find relevant listings even if they do not match the exact keywords.
Applying to Jobs
One-swipe apply
For supported listings, applying is a single swipe or click. Hiro sends your profile info and optional cover letter straight to the employer. For external jobs, we track the click and open the company's apply page in a new tab.
Daily limits
Free accounts can apply to up to 10 jobs per day to keep application quality high. Pro users get 50 per day, Elite gets unlimited. The burnout gauge will nudge you if your pace suggests you should take a break.
Auto-apply (Pro and Elite)
Turn on auto-apply from settings and Hiro will apply to high-fit jobs on your behalf every morning. You set the rules: minimum fit score, excluded companies, must-have locations. You always get a summary email listing every job we applied to so you can opt out of any.
Tracking Applications
Dashboard
Your dashboard is home base. It shows your weekly stats, upcoming reminders, recent activity, and the burnout gauge. Click any application to jump into the details.
Kanban board
The kanban view organizes every application by stage: Applied, Screening, Interview, Offer, Rejected. Drag cards between columns as you progress. You can add notes and follow-up reminders on each card.
Status badges
Each application shows a status badge, the fit score at time of application, and how long ago you applied. Click through to see the full job post, your cover letter, and any notes you added.
AI Tools
AI cover letters (Pro and Elite)
Generate a personalized cover letter for any job in seconds. Hiro reads the job description and your profile, then writes a draft tailored to the role. You can pick a tone (professional, enthusiastic, concise) and edit the result before sending.
Mock interviews (Pro and Elite)
Practice role-specific questions with our AI interviewer. Pick behavioral, technical, or situational, and Hiro will grill you with questions drawn from the job description. You get feedback on each answer plus a scored summary.
Resume tailoring (Pro and Elite)
Upload your resume and a job description, and Hiro produces a tailored version that matches the keywords in the listing. Great for getting past ATS filters without rewriting from scratch.
LinkedIn optimizer (Elite)
Paste your LinkedIn profile URL and Hiro suggests edits to your headline, summary, and experience sections to improve recruiter discoverability.
Keyword gap analysis
On any job card, click 'keyword gap' to see which skills and keywords are missing from your resume for that specific role. Fix them in one click with the tailor tool.
Career Resources
Salary intelligence
The /salary page lets you benchmark compensation by role, location, and experience level. We blend crowdsourced data with public filings to give you an honest range.
H-1B sponsor database (Elite)
Search thousands of companies by historical H-1B approvals. Filter by job title, location, salary, and year. Great for finding employers with a track record of sponsoring visas.
Interview intel
For any company, Hiro can show you common interview questions, typical process length, and insider tips pulled from public sources. Click the Interview Intel button on any job card.
Market trends
See which skills are heating up, which roles are slowing down, and how salaries are moving in your target market. Updated weekly.
Discoverability
Let employers find you
Turn on discoverability in your settings and employers on the Growth plan can find your profile when they search for candidates. You control what is visible: skills, headline, years of experience, and location. Your name and contact info stay hidden until you accept a signal.
Interest signals
When an employer is interested in your profile, you see a gold badge on their job post in your feed. You can open their signal to see the job, the fit score, and a short note. Accept to share your contact info, decline to pass.
Notifications and Alerts
High-fit job alerts
Hiro emails you when a new job scores above 85 on your profile. You can adjust the threshold or turn alerts off from settings.
Daily digest
Every morning at 8am Hiro sends a digest of your top 5 matches and any application updates. The digest is time-zone aware.
Company repost alerts
If a company you previously applied to reposts a similar role, you get a notification. This often catches reopened positions before they hit the main boards.
In-app notification bell
The bell in the top nav shows recent interest signals, new matches, interview reminders, and status changes. Click to mark all as read.
