Optical Components Test Engineering plays a critical role in enabling reliable, high‑volume manufacturing of Ciena's optical component technologies. This position partners closely with Research and Development (R&D), manufacturing partners, and cross‑functional teams to deliver robust, automated test solutions that support both sustaining products and new product introduction (NPI). The role offers the opportunity to directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction through data‑driven test engineering excellence. How you will make an impact: Support volume manufacturing by debugging, maintaining, and enhancing automated test systems for optical components Drive capital efficiency through test time reduction, yield improvement, and optimization of test strategies Enhance fault isolation and troubleshooting capabilities to improve manufacturing and field issue resolution Support failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective action implementation for components, sub‑systems, and field returns Enable successful new product introduction through testing of prototype, pre‑production, and pilot builds at manufacturing partners Lead test system replication, transfer, bring‑up, and ongoing support at partner manufacturing sites The must haves: 5+ years of experience developing automated test systems and software for production environments Demonstrated expertise in optical or high‑speed electronic test system development Expert‑level programming skills for automated test environments (ATE) Strong understanding of optical component testing and manufacturing processes Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional and external partner teams Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills with a clear sense of accountability
