Implement, administer, and continuously improve Badger Meter's EHS policies, processes, and programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections, ensuring operational controls are in place and corrective actions are completed promptly.
Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
Support the development and maintenance of programs such as fire prevention, emergency response, ergonomic assessments, evacuation planning, and weather‑related procedures.
Develop and report monthly EHS metrics, including injury and illness data, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
Respond to safety and environmental concerns, providing immediate support and coordinating urgent response efforts when needed.
Lead or participate in incident investigations, including injuries, property damage, and near misses; manage workers' compensation reporting, monitoring, and return‑to‑work coordination.
Maintain and audit safety training records; support and deliver training sessions as needed.
Work on key safety initiatives such as Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) updates, and safety talk audits.
Travel up to 10% to support additional facilities.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental studies, health and safety, safety management, or a related field required; significant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety
Candidates must have hands‑on safety experience
Requirements
Working knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA, DOT, WDNR, and other applicable regulations.
Strong ability to identify hazards and develop effective solutions.
Experience with environmental a plus.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

As an EHS Specialist, you will be the on‑site safety leader for our Racine facility, with additional support responsibilities across nearby locations (approximately 10% travel).
