Union ; Non Union Number of vacancies: 1 New or Replacement Position: New Site: Toronto Western Hospital Department: Krembil Research Institute Reports to: Principal Investigator Salary Range: $31.02 per hour Hours: 37.5 per week Shifts: Day Status: Temporary Full-time (one year contract with possibility of renewal) Closing Date : June 26, 2026 Position Summary: The Research Technician II will report to the Principal Investigator of a research program focused on preclinical models of epilepsy in the Krembil Discovery Tower, University Health Network. The mission of this program is to characterize animal models of epilepsy, including post-traumatic epilepsy and various genetic epilepsies, to gain a better understanding of mechanisms involved in the development epilepsy and develop therapeutic strategies to prevent epilepsy. We are looking to employ a Research Technician III to assist other lab members and undertake various experiments which will require expertise in the following areas: rat and mouse stereotaxic brain surgeries, cellular and molecular techniques including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISAs, animal husbandry, lab account management and ordering of supplies, and managing animal care protocols. Experience in stereotaxic rodent surgery is a requirement, experience with animal models of traumatic brain injury or epilepsy, implanting intracranial electrodes, and/or rodent EEG analyses would be an asset.
