Responsible for the direction and coordination of clinical research involving investigational drugs as well as the management of the day to day operations of the pharmacy's department investigational drug services at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
Required Qualifications
1 Year Specialized training and/or equivalent full time experience of at least one year in the area of investigational drugs.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
California Pharmacist License - CA State Board of Pharmacy -REQUIRED
Other Qualification Requirements
Current license to practice pharmacy in the state of California without restriction or probation required.
Essential Functions
Clinical research
Coordinates the development and implementation of clinical research involving investigational drugs with adequate safeguards and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
In-services staff on new protocols and keeps staff apprised of changes.
Works with pharmacy management to ensure appropriate pharmacy workload is in place prior to implementation of new studies.
Meets with study coordinators, investigators, and sponsors for site visits routine audits, FDA site inspections as well as clinical trial audits.
Acts as a resource for questions pertaining to investigational drugs and protocols.
Is accountable for proper ordering, handling, storage, record keeping, reconciliation, and return of all investigational drugs.
Obtains reimbursement for pharmacy investigational drug services.
Works with hospital administration, finance, investigators, and sponsors to set study budgets.
Education
Demonstrates commitment to the profession by representing Pharmacy in formal dealings with customers and providing staff development through educational in-services.
Coordinates and provides educational inservices and information presentation to hospital and medical staff committees and the medical, nursing or pharmacy staffs, students, residents, and/or patients.
Is an active member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and participates in medical staff advisory groups, multidisciplinary teams, focus groups, task forces, or other designated activities that will further the practice of pharmacy.
Represents the department of pharmacy in relations with study investigators, sponsors.
Assists Pharmacy Services in keeping up to date on healthcare changes, specifically regarding Pharmacy practice, and including new challenges and opportunities for the profession.
Actively participates in staff meetings at entities served, keeps current with essential departmental policies and procedures, and attends mandatory in-services and meetings.
Other duties
Suggest programs and additional roles in which Pharmacy may participate. Adapts to and promotes changes in Pharmacy Services, hospital and departmental operations as business needs require.
Demonstrates cooperation, teamwork, initiative and flexibility toward the fulfillment of hospital and system goals.

$77.910 - $100.530 - $112.590
