Position Summary:
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is recruiting an early career cardiothoracic surgeon with a focus on mechanical circulatory support (MCS), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and cardiogenic shock to join our program. This faculty position offers the opportunity to contribute to a well‑established, multidisciplinary shock and MCS program at a tertiary care academic medical center.
Position Highlights:
The ideal candidate will join a division comprised of the following:
10 adult cardiac surgeons
3 thoracic surgeons
20 advanced practice providers
14 perfusionists who are supported by a collaborative multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, anesthesiologists, cardiac intensivists, perfusionists, and APP's.
The MCS/ECMO service is staffed with 24/7 in-house coverage utilizing both ECMO specialists and perfusionists.
This faculty position offers the opportunity to contribute to a well‑established, multidisciplinary shock and MCS program at a tertiary care academic medical center.

Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, the primary adult teaching hospital of MCW, is a 776‑bed facility and the only adult Level I Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin. Recognized by Healthgrades as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals, Froedtert serves as a regional referral center for complex cardiovascular care.
MCW, a nationally recognized research institution, is the 3rd largest private medical school in the nation with a large faculty and employee base.
Comprehensive Shock and Cardiac Surgery Program:
Be part of an established program, joining 2 dedicated MCS/ECMO surgeons, that serves as a regional referral center for cardiogenic shock, ECMO, and advanced mechanical support. Clinical responsibilities include surgical cannulation and management of veno‑arterial and veno‑venous ECMO, temporary/durable mechanical support devices, and participation in institutional shock pathways.
The program benefits from advanced imaging, hybrid operating rooms, and 24 hour critical care coverage that support complex decision-making and high-quality outcomes.
