Design and Development: Engineer steering system components; including Electric Power Steering (EPS), steering columns, and intermediate shafts. Lead the design and development processes for these components.
Supplier Coordination: Interface with suppliers to ensure components meet structural, performance, and packaging requirements.
Chassis and Drive Systems Integration: Contribute to the development and integration of chassis and drive systems for Scout pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs.
Technical Excellence: Uphold the vision of engineering excellence and serve as a source of technical knowledge. Introduce innovative ideas and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the Scout vision.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to design and develop improved packaging and testing strategies, fostering engagement and contributions from all involved.
Solution Development: Partner with concept and systems architecture teams to develop solutions for engineering and functional challenges.
Prototype and Serial Development: Coordinate prototype and serial development stages, including part availability, test planning, and part releases.
Additional Tasks: Participate in other related tasks and activities as required.
Location & Travel Expectations :
This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
Requirements
Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
Experience : 8+ years of steering gear/rack (EPS) experience in concept engineering or serial development on SUV or truck platforms, including full vehicle integration.
Technical Skills: Strong capability in CAD/FEA part and system design, validation, and development engineering for steering systems. Experience with requirements decomposition, system-level integration, DFMEA/DVP&R, and collaboration with supplie
