A forklift operator operates a forklift to move, stack, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Work collaboratively with other warehouse teams to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. In addition to operating a forklift, the operator may be required to get certified on other powered industrial machines, such as pallet jacks or order pickers. This requires a strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to operate these machines safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Move materials and products to designated storage areas within the manufacturing facility.
Stack and organize pallets, crates, and other containers in an orderly manner.
Inspect and maintain the forklifts and other equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, cleaning, refueling and watering on a weekly basis.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Assist in inventory management by accurately recording and reporting stock levels.
Collaborate with team members to fulfill production and shipping requirements.
Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments.
Adhere to quality standards and ensure the integrity of products during handling and transportation.
Perform general warehouse tasks such as picking, packing, and labeling when required.
Follow company policies and procedures related to material handling and warehouse operations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Meet productivity targets and deadlines set by the company.
Comply with regulatory requirements and guidelines pertaining to forklift operation.
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
Uphold a positive and professional attitude while working in a team environment.
Ability to load and unload trailers in a safe manner, including double-stacked pallets and frame racks.
Report to management any damaged boxes, products, or pallets that might be encountered in one's daily activities.
Properly negotiate the warehouse when driving one's forklift with a load that provides limited visibility.
Attend weekly safety/informational meetings and ad hoc meetings as required by management.
Understand and follow all forklift QMS documentation.
What You bring
High School diploma or GED
2+ year of relevant work experience
Ability to manually lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to safely operate the above machinery
Successfully pass the practical based training in compliance with OSHA standards.
