The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to Youth Programs, including School Age, as well as assist in providing programs for youth. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes performing a full range of clerical support which includes preparing a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents; reviewing incoming/outgoing correspondence for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format; establishing, updating, and maintaining office records of various types in compliance with Air Force requirements; preparing, submitting and maintaining time and attendance records; requisitioning office supplies and printing support; performing clerical duties monitoring and managing reception desk such as receiving telephone calls, greeting visitors, monitoring sign-in/out procedures, staff to child ratios and activities within classrooms and center. OR EDUCATION: Must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must have a combination of education and experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. NOTE: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge common clerical practices and office routines. 2. Knowledge of Child and Youth programs and procedures. 3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 4. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and skill in typing to accurately format and prepare required correspondence and documentation. 5. Ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and courtesy. 6. Ability to learn money handling techniques and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
