Job Summary: The Principal is responsible for the academic success of the school. Leads all academic/student issues, including teaching, curriculum, discipline and building security. The Principal provides daily supervision to instructional staff, interacts with parents and the community at large relative to school operations. Further, the Principal works closely with the other administrators to ensure the smooth operation of the school. The Principal sets a positive tone for the school and brings high energy and enthusiasm to the position. Essential Functions: Reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent and is responsible for the-day-to-day activities within the current laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the overall management of instruction Works in conjunction with the Building Director and other administrators, and oversees the implementation of the curriculum Responsible for the logistics of implementing all standardized testing Maintains regular contact with parents/guardians-of students and the community Responsible for the discipline of students Creates, manages, and evaluates operational processes to ensure consistency with the school's values and goals Supervises instructional methods, evaluates lesson plans and coaches teachers to ensure effective instructional strategies Works in concert with the CFO to facilitate the ordering of instructional supplies/equipment Ensures the effective collection and analysis of student performance data to identify struggling students, curriculum shortfalls, and teacher quality issues Serves as the Administrative Representative to the Parent Teacher Organization Works in conjunction with the Executive Director of Special Education to ensure proper delivery of special education services Responsible for the day-to-day security of the building Contributes to the development of the total school philosophy of education Assists in the adaption of the school policies Keeps informed of all legal requirements pertaining to public school/charter school programs Develops professional development opportunities Evaluates existing programs as an ongoing responsibility, and recommends changes and additions as needed Recommends promotion for personnel Serves as the primary evaluator for all teachers Assists in recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring Assumes responsibility for compiling, maintaining and filing all reports, records, and other documents legally required or administratively useful Develops and maintains complete and cumulative individual records of all students Assists in writing grant applications when the opportunity or necessity requires it Coordinates with appropriate transportation personnel the transportation of all students Develops budget recommendations and provides expenditure control on established budgets Approves all supplies, materials, and texts Consults with parents of students enrolled in the school Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques, and for attending appropriate professional meetings and conventions Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Masters' Degree in Educational Administration or related field from an accredited college or university 3-5 years of demonstrated classroom experience 2 plus years demonstrated success supervising or leading a team of educators Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance FBI Criminal Background Clearance Certificates/Licenses: Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative II Certificate in School Administration Principal PK-12 Demonstrated Knowledge of: Pennsylvania Core Curriculum and Standards Federal and state laws and regulations related to charter schools including Special Education Response to Interventions (RtII) Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) Act 82, Teacher Effectiveness Framework (Educator Effectiveness System) School programs and processes and policies Demonstrated ability to: Plan, coordinate, and direct work and activities of teaching professionals Promote and market the educational program and services of the school Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written language Establish and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with a variety of people Engage families and the larger commun
