Performs digging and trenching functions with heavy equipment (including backhoe, trac hoe, and mini-excavator, trenchers, and cranes) in a safe and effective manner
Performs natural gas leak investigation and detection at requested outside locations
Completes all installation or repair procedures of normal or damaged natural gas service lines and mains
Participates in the repair of third-party damage with guidance
Starts, loads, unloads, moves, and performs periodic maintenance checks on heavy equipment
Uses locating equipment to locate gas and service lines
Completes a variety of paperwork in writing and electronic work queues
Safely drives a company vehicle
Maintains the vehicle inventory
Requirements
5+ years of related construction, utility, and/or technical experience.
Strong, shown leadership traits including the ability to effectively handle conflict and model Enbridge's values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct to cultivate an environment of partnership and collaboration.
Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
Ability to use locating equipment.
Proficiency in using an electronic map-reading program.
The proven knowledge of safety procedures, plastic pipe and fittings, tapping and pressure control equipment, and boring operations.
Basic computer, keyboarding, and internet navigation skills are key.
Ability to share ideas and expertise to accomplish goals.
A sustained focus on safety, defensive driving, and work quality.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for positive coworker, customer and contractor interactions is critical.
A willingness to work with others in a diverse team environment.
Availability of overtime, as needed.
Availability for natural gas emergency response during the workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends, when on-call.
Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Raleigh. Emergency response time is a critical measure for the Company and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when on-call.
Prior experience leading or directing the work of others.
6-12 months of heavy equipment operating experience.
6-12 months of locating experience.
Good mechanical aptitude.
Bilingual (Spanish) candidates
Valid Commercial Driver's License highly preferred OR must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of employment.
Working Conditions:
Position typically works in a crew structure.
Work is performed primarily outside in varying weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, rain, etc.).
Position requires continuous travel throughout the service territory with frequent stops, entering/exiting the company vehicle, safely parking in a wide variety of situations, and driving in construction zones.
Position may encounter agitated/irate customers.
