JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Compliance - Patient Services Staff - Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, safety practices, and organizational/departmental policies and procedures. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Respect confidentiality of patients, families, and employees. Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care information regarding patients. Ensures individual Safety College and other organizational requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner. Discusses compliance and/or safety concerns with Patient Services leadership. Performs duties within the scope of the job description. Patient Care - Age Specific and Culturally Diverse - Visually monitors patients at all times in the same room including accompaniment to the bathroom. Monitors the environment for safety. Takes the patient's chronological age and developmental functions into consideration. Integrates age specific and culturally diverse concepts into patient care. Communication - Observes the patient and provides patient personal and safety needs as delegated the registered nurse. Reassures the patient and family that Patient Safety Attendant presence is for their safety. Offer concise and respectful choices and consequences. Adheres to individualized patient safety precautions. Utilizes supplies and equipment as directed. Promotes a calm patient environment. Reduces environmental stimulation. Maintains clean safe surroundings. Maintains patient/family privacy and respect. Exhibits a nonjudgmental and empathetic attitude. Contributes to a positive patient and family experience. Listens to patient and family and remains engaged. Acknowledge feelings. Provide silent time for reflection. Reports patient needs to Patient Services staff. Promptly reports any change in patient behavior to nurse. Promptly calls for assistance and notifies the nurse of urgent or immediate patient needs/concerns. Refers family to nursing staff as appropriate. Demonstrates the Cincinnati Children's CARES behaviors in all interactions with patients, families, visitors and coworkers by actively participating as a front-line example of extraordinary customer service and satisfaction. Completes timely documentation of information in the patient medical record. Environment of Care - Assists with keeping area organized, and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Responds and assists clinical team as needed (i.e. transporting of patients, gathering supplies requested by team, assist with patient care). Exhibits knowledge and behavior in emergency situations by responding to and alerting appropriate staff and helping with unit flow during an emergency. Information Services - Demonstrates effective documentation in the electronic medical record for assigned patients. Demonstrates effective use of department information systems (e.g. patient call system, Voalte phones, desk phones, emergency code activation switch. Utilizes hospital information systems effectively (e.g. Outlook, Kronos, ELM, Mosby). JOB QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider CPR Certification to be obtained during CCHMC orientation and with renewal in accordance with organizational requirements Completion of Crisis Prevention De-escalation Training obtained within 3 months of hire Participates in all required CCHMC training and attends required in-services related to mental health training. Preferred: Related health care experience Preferred: Experience w/the care of behaviorally challenging &/or mentally delayed patient population Primary Location Lincoln Building Schedule Part time Shift Day (United States of America) Department Private Duty Nursing Employee Status Regular FTE 0.6 Weekly Hours 24
