About the role
At Neurocrine Biosciences, we pride ourselves on having a strong, inclusive, and positive culture based on our shared purpose and values. We know what it takes to be great, and we are as passionate about our people as we are about our purpose - to relieve suffering for people with great needs. What We Do: Neurocrine Biosciences is a leading neuroscience-focused, biopharmaceutical company with a simple purpose: to relieve suffering for people with great needs. We are dedicated to discovering and developing life-changing treatments for patients with under-addressed neurological, neuroendocrine and neuropsychiatric disorders. The company's diverse portfolio includes FDA-approved treatments for tardive dyskinesia, chorea associated with Huntington's disease, classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia, endometriosis* and uterine fibroids,* as well as a robust pipeline including multiple compounds in mid- to late-phase clinical development across our core therapeutic areas. For three decades, we have applied our unique insight into neuroscience and the interconnections between brain and body systems to treat complex conditions. We relentlessly pursue medicines to ease the burden of debilitating diseases and disorders because you deserve brave science. For more information, visit neurocrine.com , and follow the company on LinkedIn , X and Facebook . ( *in collaboration with AbbVie ) Initiates the design, synthesis, purification and characterization of bioactive compounds through the use of techniques such as column chromatography (e.g., high performance liquid chromatography), nuclear magnetic resonance and parallel or combinatorial synthesis. Facilitates the design of new bioactive compounds by interacting with other chemists regarding biochemical, molecular biochemical and pharmacological topics. Monitors and evaluates completion of tasks and projects. Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. Responsible for the communication and presentation of results and recommendations to the project leads in order to facilitate effective decision making. _ Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to): Independently designs synthetic routes, understand medicinal chemistry concepts, and interpret biological data to generate testable hypotheses Practice state-of-art organic synthesis techniques to synthesize, purify, and isolate novel compounds for testing in both in vitro and in vivo assays Designs, plans and conducts synthesis of intermediates and analog libraries as well communicates results to the project or program team Plays key role, and may lead, in the rapid optimization of lead molecules utilizing modern technology available to medicinal chemists such as automated synthesis and purification Recommends continuous improvements of the lead optimization process as well as the expeditious identification of development compounds Other duties as assigned
