Responsibilities

  • While this position will not be part of the existing team's on-call rotation, the individual hired may be engaged to respond to incidents during off hours if the urgency requires it.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs complex system failures involving servers, telephony systems, operating systems, security tools, applications, database structures, and data protection systems that support 911 operations and emergency response.
  • Implements, maintains, and documents backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure continuity of operations for emergency communications systems. Leads capacity planning efforts to support peak volumes, disaster scenarios, and system resilience requirements.
  • Develops, tests, and implements complex automation scripts to streamline system operations and enhance system reliability in a mission-critical environment.
  • Consults with 911 center staff, dispatchers, and public safety personnel to identify system issues and operational needs, then evaluates and recommends hardware and software solutions to support efficient emergency response workflows.
  • Analyzes system and equipment performance records to determine maintenance, repair, or replacement needs. Recommends enhancements to improve system availability, redundancy, and performance in support of emergency communications.
