The Temporary Program Aide supports the services provided by QMPS by serving to facilitate the needs of both dairy farms and the mastitis-testing laboratory through daily interactions. Highly collaborative, this individual performs a variety of essential specimen collection, courier, and processing responsibilities that have a direct impact on herd health. Extremely reliable and flexible in dealing with unpredictable workloads, they enjoy identifying and troubleshooting problems to complete routine and detailed tasks. Required Qualifications Associate's degree in a science related field, with up to one year of experience in dairy farm operations, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience Proficiency with standard commercial software (Microsoft Office), with the ability to learn advanced functions and new software quickly Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Ability to maintain strong working relationships while meeting individual and unit goals in accordance with the broader mission Works well both independently and within a team environment Good judgement and problem-solving skills Strong attention to accuracy and detailed record keeping; ability to correctly complete paperwork, seeking information as needed Excellent self-management practices to successfully organize competing priorities to meet deadlines Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with tact and discretion Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds Must maintain a valid driver's license. Position will involve Perform specimen courier duties using a university assigned vehicle; retrieve, reconcile and transport specimens from participating farms to the lab; provide backup support for other routes, including the weekend route, when needed Perform detailed specimen processing to prepare submissions for testing Provide backup support for diagnostic testing processes as needed: setting samples, laboratory disinfection Important Details about the Position This is an onsite position located in Warsaw , NY . This is a 6-month temporary position with potential to extend. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. This position is 39 hours per week and is required to work Saturdays . Specific schedules may change to meet the needs of the business. Employees may need to work early mornings, University holidays, scheduled breaks, and weekends.
