What you'll do (the highlights) Under the direction of the Vocational Supervisor, the Vocational Facilitator is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities in the acquisition of vocational skills to obtain and maintain competitive employment in the community. The Vocational Facilitator is responsible for successfully facilitating journeys of the people we support through the development and implementation of employment action plans, including developing pre-employment and employment skills, setting employment goals and seeking competitive employment opportunities. What that looks like: Working Full-Time 35 hours, Monday-Friday days in an office-based position. Provide individual emotional, physical, social, and vocational support in a respectful and caring manner. Conduct vocational assessments and interest testing to determine skills and abilities. Assess academic aptitudes, physical stamina, and various skills in relation to vocational planning. Observe and assess onsite task execution and work-related behaviours. Develop pre-employment and employment skills, including one-to-one supports and group facilitation. Assist in developing employment goals, action plans, and seeking competitive employment opportunities. Conduct job coaching and provide individualized follow-up. Provide community-based support and workplace assessments, including accompanying individuals to job interviews or assisting with transportation. Identify learning barriers and determine effective training and support methods. Recommend assistive devices, equipment, and community resources to enhance employment opportunities. Promote independence and encourage decision-making through recognition and respect of individual interests and choices. Serve as a positive role model for staff and individuals supported. Perform administrative duties, including completing communication logs, incident reports, and maintaining effective communication with management, coworkers, individuals supported, and the community. Use Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques if an escalated situation arises. Become familiar with Fire Safety procedures, including the location of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and individual evacuation procedures.
