Responsibilities

  • Analyze repair concepts for Scout vehicles (new programs, technologies, and engineering changes) to define requirements for special tools and workshop equipment, ensuring repair quality and operational efficiency across workshops and mobile services.
  • Drive early serviceability integration by collaborating with Engineering to ensure tool requirements are identified and validated during vehicle development phases.
  • Evaluate and define make-or-buy strategies for special tools and equipment supporting Scout Motors workshops, mobile services, and third-party partners.
  • Lead the design, development, validation, and release of new special tools and workshop equipment.
  • Establish and maintain global standards and specifications for workshop tools and equipment to ensure consistency across markets.
  • Conduct technical assessments to support Purchasing in the selection and qualification of suppliers, including cost, quality, and scalability considerations.
  • Own the lifecycle management of special tools (introduction, updates, obsolescence, and replacement strategies).
  • .Coordinate the inclusion and governance of tools and equipment within official catalogues and digital systems (e.g., integration with parts and workshop information media).
  • Ensure compliance with legal, homologation, safety, and product regulatory requirements across all markets.
  • Define and implement tool validation processes, including field testing, durability, and usability in real workshop conditions.
  • Support digitalization initiatives, enabling integration of tools with diagnostics, connected services, and future AI-enabled workshop solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and training concepts for special tools and equipment (usage, maintenance, calibration, safety).
  • Provide technical support to workshops and mobile services on tool usage, diagnostics, maintenance, and warranty topics.
  • Monitor field feedback and repair data to continuously improve tool design, usability, and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Aftersales, Quality, and Operations to ensure closed-loop feedback into product and process improvements.
  • Contribute to budget planning and cost optimization for special tools and workshop equipment programs.
  • Location & Travel Expectations :
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
