Independent Post-Approval Credit Review Lead and perform independent post-approval credit reviews in accordance with UOBM requirements. This includes ensuring that credit decision-making remains aligned with the Bank's overall credit risk management framework, and that the scope, depth, and frequency of reviews are commensurate with the significance and risk profile of the portfolio. Assess the quality of credit evaluation and the rigor of the credit approval process, including: Adequacy and reliability of information used for credit decisions Compliance with credit risk strategy, policies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements Effectiveness and timeliness of credit monitoring activities Accuracy and timeliness of ratings assigned to counterparties Appropriateness of credit classifications and provisioning levels Collaborate with the team to safeguard the quality of the Bank's loan portfolio (post-approval), and support effective oversight by the Credit Management Committee (CMC) by: Proactively identifying and reporting emerging risks, hotspots, and early warning signals Monitoring and analyzing borrower performance, particularly for large exposures Ensure that findings and recommendations from independent credit reviews are clearly documented and escalated to the Board and senior management through periodic reporting. Provide actionable recommendations to enhance UOBM's credit processes, policies, and procedures. Manage requests from auditors and regulators, ensuring timely and high-quality remediation of audit findings and recommendations within the scope of responsibility. B. Market Scan, Surveillance and Independent Monitoring Conduct regular market scans and surveillance to monitor macroeconomic developments and sector trends and share relevant insights with stakeholders to support early risk awareness. Provide timely updates on significant credit-related developments and news to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Post-Approval Credit Review (PACR), and Independent Monitoring (IM), ensuring consistent communication of notable market or borrower-specific events. Coordinate with Business Units (BU) and Credit teams on material adverse developments affecting assigned cases. Support ongoing monitoring activities to ensure credit risks remain within UOBM's risk appetite and proactively flag potential issues or deviations in an objective and timely manner. Contribute to the early identification of potential vulnerabilities through independent assessments and escalate concerns to relevant stakeholders where appropriate. C. Independent Monitoring of Problem Accounts & Collaboration with Group Credit Review Conduct independent reviews or thematic assessments of accounts classified as watchlist or impaired, as required. Provide objective and insightful assessments of accounts exhibiting impairment risk indicators. Support monthly Non-Performing Loan (NPL) projection exercises. Job Requirements Degree holder with at least 8 years of relevant credit experience. Experience in credit approval, restructuring & recovery (R&R), and recovery is an added advantage. Strong attention to detail with high-risk awareness. Diligent, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to develop practical and innovative solutions. Team player with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, results-oriented environment. Strong planning and prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior management. Good understanding of governance frameworks, including committee Terms of Reference. Familiarity with Wholesale and Retail credit environments, as well as relevant regulatory guidelines.
