Position: Senior Business Analyst Department: Neurology Administration Location: Boston, MA Schedule: 20 hours per week POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Business Analyst serves as the key support to the Administrative Director and Director of Operations to manage all department's clinical operations, finance, strategy and research, as well as personnel management. He/she will be responsible for many aspects of department management including preparation of spreadsheets, charts, correspondence, onboarding, generating presentation and documents drafting. In addition this role will be responsible for following up on meeting-generated tasks, budget reports production, and management of clinical, operations and research process improvement projects. Works autonomously, sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Lead Functions Utilize various software tools for data extraction and analysis for project support as well as ad hoc reports for research senior management. Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of multiple dependent and co-dependent factors. Assist with and/or create project documentation including functional, technical and conceptual design specifications, requirements/due diligence, use-cases, testing scenarios, process flow charts etc. Assist in overall Software/Systems implementations and integrations. Works with IT and supports the internal clinical and research teams on major conversions, upgrades and enhancements. Project/Multiple Projects Lead Functions Cross-organizational responsibilities working with external partners/stakeholders Conduct interviews to gather business requirements, understand and map the full life cycle of business processes to ensure compliance with internal and external policies. Act as liaison between internal and external stakeholders to define, document and review business and system requirements. Participate in and support other Research initiatives/projects by serving as an internal resource. Participate in process design or improvement initiatives. Comfortable working with and joining multiple large datasets together in Microsoft Excel, Red Cap and/or Access, beyond the intermediate skill level. Database Management and Query/Table/e-Form building Participate in and support various departmental initiatives/projects by serving as an internal resource. Work with other departments to coordinate activities and project work in order to ensure that BMC meets customer expectations. Oversees/coordinates specific projects; provides leadership in project management; gathers deliverables from required constituents; tracks, analyzes, and makes recommendations or raises concerns on status reports, issue resolution, and program actual against project charter, budget, and/or plan. Training Lead/Mentoring Junior team members Functions Work with user groups (internal and external) to provide training, resolve questions, assess user needs and recommend changes to the automated systems. Document and update documentation for all internal system application and integration projects including user and internal documentation. Independently composes high level correspondence and documents with professional quality. Edits and proofreads written materials and verifies the validity of data for documents and reports prior to submission/distribution. Team Lead Functions Cross-Functional / Budgetary responsibilities Assists with monitoring grant budgets and account balances and helping manager's research variances with the budgets. Ability to execute internal and external process audits, and provide quality assurance reviews. Provide standard operating reports for administrative activities at a departmental level. Provide support for the surgeons, ancillary clinical staff and/or senior management as needed. Analyze metric reports to identify & interpret trends, variances and business performance. Communicate findings in a clear and concise format. Provides administrative support to the Department of Orthopedics including following up on meeting-generated tasks, preparing documents, spreadsheets and presentation slides. Prepares meeting agenda; prepares and distributes information packages required for meetings in to producing minutes after the meetings. Deals discreetly with highly sensitive, confidential written, electronic, and oral communications concerning staff, department, and hospital matters. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the department and the institution. Utilizes hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the department and the hospital's mission and goals. Provide general clerical support including: filing, making appointments, photocopying, faxing, preparing and sending bulk mailings and express packages, coordinating conference calls, and maintaining contacts database. Performs other
