The Division of Mental Hygiene of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is responsible for policy, programs and provide oversight related to mental health, alcohol and drug use prevention care and treatment and developmental delays and disabilities. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: - Oversee and manage the EDC Office's scheduling, meeting planning, programmatic reporting, and special requests or ad hoc projects. - Support and coordinate efforts to evaluate and improve initiatives, performance, and operational efficiency. - Ensure the implementation of standardized practices and processes across the Division, including research, evaluation, monitoring, program design, policy analysis, and recommendations. - Lead and oversee cross-divisional research initiatives, including surveys, program evaluations, and public health surveillance, to inform decision-making and improve outcomes. - Conduct and oversee research activities to identify best practices, assess program effectiveness, and guide evidence-based programmatic and operational strategies. - Ensure research findings are effectively translated into actionable strategies, programmatic improvements, and policy recommendations. - Conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and synthesize research findings to inform strategic decision-making, policy development, and the Division's priorities. - Identify emerging trends and gaps in research to guide the Division's initiatives and ensure alignment with best practices. - Set appropriate goals, research- and data-informed programmatic interventions, implementation approaches, data collection and evaluation strategies, and timelines. - Provide research expertise to support the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative programs, policies, and interventions. - Plan, implement, and evaluate Divisional policies, programs, and procedures related to scientific research, epidemiological surveillance, and other initiatives. - Develop and oversee research protocols to ensure the integrity and quality of data collection and analysis. - Develop, implement, and evaluate data- and research-informed strategies to embed and advance racial justice and health equity within the EDC Office and across the Division. - Use research and data to identify and address disparities in health outcomes and workplace practices. - Act as a liaison between the EDC, Divisional leadership, external partners, and community organizations. - Represent the EDC and Division in internal and external meetings, ensuring that research findings and data are effectively communicated to stakeholders. - Build and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance the Division's research capacity and pursue opportunities for collaborations and grant funding. - Lead the development and dissemination of intra- and inter-divisional communications from the EDC. - Prepare presentations, speeches, and briefing materials for the EDC's use with elected officials and key stakeholders, incorporating research findings and data insights. - Ensure timely reporting on programs, initiatives, and research outcomes to internal and external stakeholders. - Provide training and mentorship to staff on research methodologies, data analysis, and evidence-based practices. - Foster a culture of research and evidence-based decision-making within the Division. - Ensure compliance with ethical standards and best practices in research, including data privacy and security.
