To advance the mission and purpose of InterVarsity as noted above, the Campus Ministry - Focus position focuses on a particular area of ministry expertise. The position has significant shared leadership with the Area Ministry Director within a region and has spiritual leadership and pastoral supervisory responsibility. The context of the position is a campus Area Ministry Team.
AREAS OF FOCUS
This Position Description applies to areas of foci such as arts, athletes, ethnic/multiethnic/cross cultural ministry, evangelism, fund development, missions, spiritual formation, training, and Urban /Global programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Personal Spiritual Duties
Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.
Practice daily spiritual disciplines
Pursue spiritual relationships and involvement in a worshipping community
Continue learning and growth in spiritual understanding, biblical knowledge, ministry experience and skills
Experience and live out an ongoing call to ministry service with InterVarsity and its mission
Ministry Leadership
Participate and be fully engaged in the area ministry team to set spiritual vision and direction, to contribute to the accomplishment of the ministry team's plans for spiritual growth and transformation, and to provide area leadership in specific areas
Lead in ministry to students and faculty on campus in her/his area of focus Promote and press forward the mission on campus (To advance witnessing communities that are bolder, broader, and more ethnically diverse)
Seek opportunities to proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ Guide chapters in the development of strategic thinking regarding witness to the university within the focused area of ministry.
Model and assist students and faculty in growing in their love for God's people of every ethnicity and culture
Encourage a prayerful lifestyle in students and faculty, especially focusing on those who do not yet follow Jesus as Lord and Savior
Teach students to love, study and apply Scripture to their lives

Pastoral Supervision
Provide pastoral support and personal development for student/teams within the focused area of ministry
Provide training, resources and opportunities for students and faculty within the focused area of ministry
Recruit students and provide leadership for conferences and projects

Perform the necessary administrative tasks required to fulfill the purpose of InterVarsity and comply with InterVarsity's policies and procedures
Comply with Risk Management policies
Follow the budgeting and expense reporting guidelines
Lead students in filing annual chapter affiliation
Fulfill area and regional reporting requirements
Finances, Ministry Partnership Development, and Public Relations
Carryout the tasks required for effective ministry partner development and to develop strong public relations for the ministry of InterVarsity
Serve as an ambassador of InterVarsity to individual ministry partners and churches, through prayer, discussion of ministry efforts, mission, and accomplishments
Maintain expenses within allocated budgets
Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni as well as current and potential donors
Cultivate and maintain a ministry among partners that will fund InterVarsity
Represent InterVarsity within the broader Christian community through speaking engagements and strategic interaction with pastors, churches, faculty and marketplace leaders
