About the role

The primary function will be the coordination of our incoming and outgoing freight. Verify and ensure the accuracy of all Multimatic and supplier owned returnable containers (totes, racks, pallets, lids and bins, etc). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Data accuracy Adherence to tight shipping time lines & customer requirements Will work with our vendors, carriers and materials analyst to enhance our freight utilization Minimize our freight costs and control our inventory levels Optimize all loads; inbound and outbound and finding best priced carrier Assist with securing annual freight contracts as needed Supervisory responsibilities include instructing & directing all activities with Forklift Drivers & Material Handlers/Water Spiders Monitor Multimatic and supplier owned returnable containers as well as Multimatic expendable containers to contain shipping costs Must obtain a forklift license and complete crane training and operate each safely and effectively High forklift skill level. Must be able to drive and load in confined spaces such as rail cars, trailers, etc. Using the preferred shipping/receiving software: Prepare shipping documents (i.e.; BOLs, shippers, load sheets, etc.) Prepare bar code labels for shipments and scan product(s) for verification of load against load sheet as required Pull EDI releases daily. Interpret release information and communicate release information via appropriate methods such as spreadsheets, email, etc. for production and inventory control maintenance Send ASNs to customers within customer's acceptable time window Process materials-received paperwork according to procedures Other related duties as assigned KEY RELATIONSHIPS Shipping supervisor: provides direct supervision, assigns task, provide advise, guidance, training and instruction. Traffic coordinator will provide the shipping supervisor with full details on all functions Materials analyst: will work closely with the materials analyst to ensure the proper flow of purchased parts Carriers and Transportation Company: traffic coordinator will maintain constant contact with Dispatch and drivers to ensure all pickup, drop trailer and schedule pickup are done on time Interact and communicate daily with other shift's employees, supervisors and management to ensure that all shipping requirements are met QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
