Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, relevant trade certification, or equivalent education and experience.
Experience in estimating, project coordination, or project management, preferably in an industrial self-perform environment.
Field experience considered an asset.
Experience with estimating software (e.g., In8, Autobid, Accubid, Building Connected, P6) and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and subcontractor coordination.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

Estimator (Industrial)
The Estimator will assist in providing accurate and timely estimates of all costs for mechanical work on various industrial projects.
This position is based in Bird's NW Edmonton Office.
What You Will Be Working On
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to gain an understanding of project scope and requirements.
Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates. Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and other project costs.
Assist with sourcing materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractors under the guidance of senior team members. Collaborate with senior estimators, project managers and site personnel to review and analyze bids and proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including organizing and compiling all relevant estimating information.
Assist in maintaining and updating cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimating practices.
Support the estimating team in tracking and reporting on project bids, opportunities, and market trends.
Identify construction related risks and helps with the preparation of project risk information and profiles.
Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input and support on estimating-related matters.
Stay up to date with industry trends, construction technologies, and best practices in estimating.
Participate in project scheduling activities and provide input on preconstruction activities.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Maintain the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity when representing Bird Construction.
