The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education. Description of Work The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct leadership and assistance to Public School Units (PSUs) to ensure that K-13 students across our state have access to digital-age, personalized learning and are prepared for college and careers in a global society. This position serves as a statewide leader in advancing digital teaching and learning by supporting Public School Units (PSUs) in the implementation of innovative, technology-integrated instructional practices that prepare K-13 students for college, careers, and participation in a global society. The role drives the successful implementation of the NC Digital Learning Initiative and NCED Connect (Home Base) suite of tools through strategic planning support, professional development, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration with educational leaders across the state. This position will be home-based and will require travel up to 60% of the time, including day and overnight trips. Position will support the Northeast area, which includes 19 LEAs, Charter, Regional, and Lab Schools in the following counties: Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, and Washington. Job Responsibilities: Provide support to all PSUs, including but not limited to providing district leadership teams with planning support for implementation of the NC Digital Learning Initiative (DLI) and local digital learning initiatives that are integrated into PSU strategic plans. Develop and disseminate resources, innovative practices, and relevant research related to digital-age teaching and learning; advising on technology hardware and software for instructional and/or administrative use at the central office and building level. Promote curricular and pedagogical strategies that integrate digital-age tools, incorporating digital-age skills, tools, and resources; and utilizing local, state and national data to inform future professional development planning. Provide guidance on digital-age pedagogy, instructional technology, library media programs, and statewide digital learning standards, this position strengthens educator capacity, enhances student learning opportunities, and promotes equitable access to high-quality digital resources and personalized learning experiences throughout North Carolina. Provide guidance to PSUs so they can fully leverage NC's NCED Connect (Home Base) suite of tools with a focus on digital literacy, North Carolina Virtual Public School, and other state stakeholder programs to benefit and/or enhance student learning. Support school library media programs and coordinators throughout the entire state to include but not limited to maintaining current media guidelines for PSU and school levels, supporting and providing job-embedded professional learning for school librarians aligned to their professional standards, and supporting the development and implementation of school and PSU level collection development plans. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $63,927.00 - $87,743.00 Manager Preferences: Experience developing and/or delivering formal presentations and/or training.
