Primary Function of the Position The Senior Manager Equipment Maintenance, leads the maintenance organization supporting Intuitive's manufacturing equipment and automated production lines across the Mexicali sites. This role is fully focused on manufacturing and production equipment reliability and does not include building, facilities, or infrastructure maintenance responsibilities. The position oversees Corrective Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and Calibration for manufacturing equipment, ensuring high equipment availability, reliability, and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. This leader partners closely with site leadership to align maintenance strategies with operational goals, production demand, and business objectives. Working under indirect supervision of the Sr. Director of Manufacturing, this role defines and deploys short- to mid-term strategies to strengthen equipment reliability standards, employee engagement, talent development, and continuous improvement within a regulated manufacturing environment. The Senior Manager collaborates extensively with local cross‑functional teams and Corporate partners to support manufacturing readiness, new equipment introductions, new processes, and new technology platforms. The role is accountable for identifying, escalating, and mitigating any equipment-related risks that could impact safety, quality, delivery, cost, or company reputation. Essential Job Duties Lead and develop a team of supervisors, engineers, and technicians providing day‑to‑day support for manufacturing and production equipment during all operating shifts. Ensure compliance with QMS, regulatory, and calibration requirements applicable to manufacturing equipment. Deploy department goals using Hoshin Kanri (X3/X4), aligned to site objectives (X2), and manage KPIs to drive performance and improvement. Organize resources to execute unplanned corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and calibration activities for production equipment across all lines and shifts. Align maintenance resource planning with SIOP and Long‑Range Manufacturing Models. Define, monitor, and report equipment reliability KPIs including MTTA, MTTR, MTBF, partnering with Equipment Engineering and Operations teams. Lead initiatives to improve equipment safety, quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance. Own department budget planning (headcount, supplies, tooling, equipment purchases) and manage expenses to meet financial targets. Track and manage capital manufacturing equipment for financial and asset management purposes. Partner with Engineering to define and maintain spare parts strategies to eliminate production downtime caused by parts shortages. Create and maintain equipment event notifications, maintenance documentation, and calibration records in compliance with QMS. Conduct audits to ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of maintenance operations. Mentor and develop team members through coaching, performance management, and structured problem-solving. Attract, develop, and retain technical maintenance talent. Drive cross‑functional issue resolution related to manufacturing equipment performance. Lead change management and proactively mitigate risks impacting production. Execute performance and feedback processes (CIP, Merit) in accordance with company guidelines. Champion Intuitive's culture, values, leadership expectations, and continuous improvement mindset. Required Skills and Experience Minimum of 5 years of people management experience in an Equipment Maintenance Manager position. Outstanding management and communication skills. Experience with maintenance and calibration activities on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment. Experience with maintenance and calibration activities on automated manufacturing equipment. Experience in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) implementation Excellent creative problem-solving skills. English: 85% minimum (Written and spoken). Required Education and Training Engineering BS degree Must be computer literate with experience using, Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point. Working Conditions Required to work on site. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in Medical Device industry and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices preferred. Working knowledge with TPM. Working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma.
