Works closely with the DOC to ensure the Nursing Department operates in accordance with MOHLTC, CNO, and Extendicare standards and policies.
Acts as the lead in the coordination and implementation including evaluation
Acts as the Co-Lead Nursing Educator, leading and delivering staff individual and group training as it relates to special functions and routine practices.
Acts as resource to the interdisciplinary team in their interactions with residents and families
Supports resolution processes as identified through policies and procedures
Provides constructive feedback to the Director of Care regarding staff performance and suggests staff training and education needs
Provides input and recommendation to the Director of Care regarding equipment, supplies requirements etc.
Participates in Medication Management such as Medication Pass Audit, Monthly Narcotic sheets audit, Medication drug destruction, Quarterly Reviews, etc.
Complete RAI-MDS (RAP, Coding, Care Plan etc.) as assigned.
Review care plans as needed to ensure they are updated with correct and accurate information.
Completes AIS, Surge Learning, and other required mandatory education
What you bring
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent post diploma education preferred
A minimum of 3 years' experience in clinical nursing in seniors' care that may include geriatric, long-term care, rehabilitation or chronic complex care
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing with applicable regulatory body
Successful completion of Basic Life Support certification
Demonstrated supervisory and management skills, preferably in a related unionized environment; attendant service delivery work environment supporting the activities of daily living for residents
Previous client needs assessment experience and use of the inter-RAI system preferred
Knowledge of MOHLTC Act& Regulations preferred
