This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations while promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations (EPA, EQB, local permitting agencies, ISO 14001, etc.)
- Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Maintain environmental permits, records, and regulatory documentation
- Support waste management, hazardous waste handling, and recycling programs
- Track and report environmental metrics (air emissions, water usage, waste streams, stormwater, etc.)
- Assist with environmental incident investigations and corrective actions
- Coordinate sampling, testing, and monitoring activities with internal teams and external vendors
- Prepare environmental reports, submissions, and compliance documentation
- Support sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects
- Deliver environmental training to employees and contractors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EHS, Engineering, Operations, and Quality
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, or EHS roles
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and reporting requirements
- Experience with waste management, air/water compliance, or industrial environmental programs
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental management systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred for roles in Puerto Rico
