About the role
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our UCSF-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. Job Requirements Education - High School Diploma required - Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required Work Experience - Experience in a clinical setting preferred Required Licenses/Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. - State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law). Essential Functions - Responsible for x-ray services as needed - Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. - Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use. - May need to push patient in a wheelchair Patient Preparation and Rooming - Inform technical staff of patient flow. - Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit; - Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed. - Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider. Administrative - Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files. - Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care - Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed Other responsibilities include: - Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment.
