The Delivery Assistant Manager supports the Delivery Manager by overseeing the daily operations and overall success of the Delivery team. The role is responsible for managing productivity across delivery functions, ensuring workload balance, on‑time departures, complete documentation, and a safe, organized workspace. This position promotes strong teammate engagement through daily huddles, coaching, performance reviews, and support for training and development. It also ensures accurate scheduling, compliance with driver and truck file requirements, and adherence to company policies, transportation regulations, and safety standards. The Delivery Assistant Manager plays a key role in maintaining professional customer service and responding to emergent operational issues as needed. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES : Manage shift delivery productivity, including workload balancing, on time departures, documentation accuracy, and overall efficiency of delivery operations. Lead daily team huddles and support strong teammate engagement through coaching, performance reviews, compliance monitoring, and corrective actions when required. Oversee teammate scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing levels, accurate payroll time approvals, and proper equipment assignments based on volume. Maintain driver compliance with all driver tracking tools such as LYTX and GeoTab systems Maintain truck file documentation requirements, as well as transportation regulations and company policies. Ensure the Delivery team upholds professional and courteous customer service standards while representing the organization. Maintain fleet maintenance schedules and address maintenance issues promptly. Partner with Safety & Compliance to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment aligned with internal policies, SOPs, and legal requirements. Respond to emergent or unforeseen operational issues as needed to support uninterrupted delivery service. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION: High School/GED YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 3+ years YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 1+ years CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: Commercial Driver's License preferred, as it supports general knowledge of the duties performed by direct reports and allows for emergency coverage when required SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS : Strong knowledge of delivery operations, including workload balancing, on‑time departures, and productivity management. Ability to coach, support, and engage teammates through performance feedback, training, and daily communication. Solid understanding of transportation regulations, driver compliance requirements, and documentation standards. Proficient organizational and scheduling skills, including staffing coordination, time approval, and equipment assignment. Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to respond effectively to emergent or unforeseen operational issues. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to represent the department professionally. Working knowledge of safety procedures and ability to partner with Safety & Compliance to maintain a safe work environment.
