About the role

Ampol is looking for a Supply Settlement Accountant to join us on a 14-month max-term contract within our Finance team. This role is responsible for inventory accounting, reconciliation and settlement of Supply Trading activity. The role supports high-volume, high-value transactions across crude and product sales and purchases, Australian Term Contracts, and borrow and loan activity. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate financial recording, reconciliation and reporting of inventory movements and trading transactions, with a strong focus on data integrity, controls and compliance. Working closely with Trading, Operations and Finance stakeholders, you will support end-to-end supply execution through disciplined inventory accounting and timely issue resolution. This role is predominantly based out of our Banksmeadow Terminal with a hybrid working arrangement .

Responsibilities

  • Execute day to day inventory accounting operations activities supporting the trading business, including accurate volume and price reconciliations
  • Manage end to end settlement of trading activities across crude, product, term and spot transactions
  • Prepare and deliver inventory reporting and analysis to support operational decision making, accountability and MSO compliance
  • Proactively monitor inventory processes, work instructions and procedures to drive efficiency, accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders across Ampol, as well as relevant external parties
  • Respond to and resolve supplier and customer queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Support Finance and Integration team objectives as required
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in finance or accounting with CA/CPA preferred
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of supply chain or inventory operations, preferably with two or more years' experience
  • Strong team player with excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and balance stakeholder expectations effectively
  • Resilient and positive when working under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain issues and outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving capability, with sound judgement on when and how to escalate issues
  • Tenacity to follow up and resolve unreconciled items to completion
  • Working knowledge of SAP, particularly inventory, billing, sales and distribution modules
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently across multiple processes and systems
  • Capability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the business and with external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives
