At ACAP University College, we are committed to preparing law graduates for supervised legal practice through high-quality, practice-oriented legal training. ACAP is a nationally accredited higher education provider and an accredited provider of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP), delivering Practical Legal Training (PLT) to students across Australia. We are currently seeking sessional Mentors, Tutors and Lecturers to contribute to the NSW GDLP program. We welcome applications from: current legal practitioners interested in contributing to the development of future members of the profession; practitioners with experience supervising graduates or early career lawyers; and academics, PLT educators and legal professionals with experience in legal training, assessment or professional education. While prior PLT teaching experience is highly regarded, we recognise that strong practitioners bring valuable professional insight, practical judgment and contemporary practice experience to legal education. These opportunities include both: face-to-face teaching during intensive delivery periods in New South Wales; and asynchronous online contributions, including assessment, feedback, student mentoring and simulated practice supervision. The role involves supporting students through practice-based learning and assessment across areas including: Lawyer's Skills and Values Civil Litigation Practice Property Law Practice Commercial and Corporate Practice Administrative Law Practice Banking and Finance Consumer Law Practice Criminal Law Practice Employment Law Practice Family Law Practice Government Law Practice In-House Counsel Practice Planning and Environmental Law Practice Wills and Estates Practice Depending on experience and availability, sessional responsibilities may include : facilitating intensive workshops and practical skills sessions; providing written and verbal feedback on simulated legal practice tasks; assessing student work and progress; supporting students in the development of professional judgment, ethical practice and foundational legal skills; and contributing to a contemporary and practice-oriented learning environment Applicants should ideally have: admission as an Australian lawyer; current or prior legal practice experience; strong written communication and professional skills; and an interest in legal training, supervision and professional capability development. Experience in PLT, legal education, graduate supervision or professional training will be highly regarded. Essential qualifications: Law degree and GDLP (or equivalent qualification); admission to the legal profession in Australia; and legal practice experience.
