About the role

The Journeyman Plumber also supports long-term infrastructure reliability by implementing preventative maintenance schedules, assisting with inspections, and maintaining accurate records for regulatory compliance. This position ensures plumbing systems are dependable, efficient, and aligned with the operational needs of the campus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform plumbing repairs and replacements of fixtures, including sinks, toilets, faucets, water fountains, and related equipment, and clean and maintain sewer lines, drain lines, and grease traps to ensure proper function. Install, inspect, and maintain water heaters, drain lines, and sewer lines, troubleshooting and repairing issues to maintain operational reliability. Coordinate and manage project schedules to minimize disruption or interference with daily operations, ensuring plumbing projects are completed safely and efficiently. Maintain adequate training and ensure compliance with all requirements to hold a valid State of Arkansas Plumbing License and Boiler Certification. Supervise and monitor all plumbing contractors working on site or campus to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards. Maintain compliance with ADA, City of Bentonville, Benton County, and State of Arkansas code requirements in all plumbing work. Assist in maintaining files for mandatory training, certifications, and annual maintenance schedules, providing accurate documentation to support inspections and reporting requirements. Assist in the development and execution of preventative maintenance schedules for all plumbing systems to ensure safe and reliable operation. Support local, state, and insurance inspections for regulatory compliance, providing corrective action and follow-up as required. Assist with the safety program by monitoring compliance with applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal procedures, OSHA standards, and hazardous materials handling. Participate in on-call rotations, respond to after-hours work requests, and address emergency calls involving plumbing and facility needs. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation of plumbing systems. Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of plumbing supplies, tools, and equipment, requesting orders as needed to prevent delays in maintenance or repairs. Communicate clearly with staff, contractors, and stakeholders regarding plumbing issues, planned work, timelines, and impacts to daily operations. Identify and recommend opportunities to improve water efficiency, reduce waste, and support sustainability initiatives. Collaborate with other trades, such as electrical, HVAC, etc., to coordinate repairs and projects that impact multiple building systems. Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other software (e.g., Excel, Workday, or facilities databases) to track work orders, inspections, and maintenance records. Mentor apprentices or less experienced plumbing staff by providing on-the-job training and guidance in best practices and safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned in support of facilities operations and organizational goals.
