Explore the BDC Way in our Culture Book POSITION OVERVIEW The Business Centre Manager leads and develops a team of Mid‑Market Account Managers, strengthens BDC's market presence in Calgary, and builds long‑term relationships within the local business community. The Business Centre Manager, is responsible for driving portfolio growth by leading, coaching and partnering with Account Managers to source, develop, and recommend high‑quality financing and advisory transactions in alignment with BDC's credit policies and risk parameters. As the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, BDC supports the growth of small and mid‑sized businesses across Canada, and this role contributes directly to that impact. CHALLENGES TO BE MET Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Mid‑Market Account Managers in the Calgary territory, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention. Drive business development by actively building and maintaining relationships with local entrepreneurs, professional advisors, and referral partners, while leading, coaching, and working with Account Managers to generate new financing and advisory opportunities. Identify priority business sectors with strong growth potential and develop and implement a strategic plan to address entrepreneurs' financing and advisory needs, including support for innovative deal structuring. Develop and implement customer retention and relationship growth strategies to build a profitable, sustainable loan portfolio. Coach Account Managers to achieve and exceed objectives related to new client acquisition, transaction volume, advisory service delivery, customer retention, portfolio growth, and expected loss targets. Support Account Managers in pre‑qualification activities and in presenting financing proposals to Credit Risk Management and Underwriting, ensuring compliance with BDC policies, KYC requirements, and sound risk‑reward analysis. Actively contribute to the Alberta South leadership team, supporting regional growth objectives and the professional development of colleagues.
