At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
We are seeking dynamic software systems Engineers to join our New Glenn team at Blue Origin. In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility for a New Glenn autonomy software component through cross‑functional systems engineering and data‑driven testing. You will have a direct impact on the success of every launch. If you have the mindset of a leader, are curious, and can see how every piece fits into the whole, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Partner with cross-functional teams of controls engineers, subsystem designers, and operators to define autonomy software behaviors.
- Architect, document, and decompose design decisions into software requirements, verification activities, and validation activities.
- Support code reviews and validate software behavior through simulation data analysis, Hardware-In-the-Loop testing, and hardware testing.
- Develop and run data analysis pipelines.
- Drive autonomy software release readiness decisions by assessing autonomy changes for safety, performance, and stakeholder needs.
- Coordinate with Avionics teams to integrate autonomy software into flight and ground systems.
- Define procedures and command sequences to control the rocket for ground testing and operations.
- Triage, investigate, and resolve software issues using test data on an aggressive schedule.
- Rapidly develop tooling, scripts, and functions to address emergent issues.
- Provide real-time support for hot fire tests and missions in the support room.
- Push for process improvements with a sense of ownership and urgency.
