Job Description Summary The Director, Nursing - Partnerships is responsible for defining, assessing and assuring nursing practice competency within the inpatient hospital. Guides nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists (consultants), charge nurses and infection control nurse in the establishment and integration of nursing care processes, policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care and meet regulatory compliance. Collaborates with the Administrative Director to ensure practice standards are disseminated and implemented in all levels of care and throughout the System of Care. Establishes and maintains a measurement system for patient acuity and the integration of acuity data into nursing staffing guidelines. Fosters the development of the rehabilitation nursing practice and a shared governance nursing philosophy to promote staff nurse participation in decision-making. Manages and integrates the nursing staffing office (resource pool) and nursing Flex Staff employees to assure right resources to support nursing care. Coordinates and participates in nursing activities to ensure high standards of patient care.. Job Description The Director, Nursing - Partnerships will: Collaborate with the Administrative Director to: Guide inpatient nurse managers in all aspects of unit operations including nursing professional practice, quality improvement activities, nursing care model design, staffing guidelines and budget development. Maintain the philosophy, purpose, standards, and policies and procedures of the Division of Nursing. Develop goals and objectives for the Nursing staff, guiding inpatient nurse managers in ensuring the established goals and objectives are met. Define nursing roles and assure the implementation of nursing staff education through orientation and staff development programs that support the development of the rehabilitation nursing practice. Collaborate with program leaders in the identification of patient education processes and related materials to assist in the provision of patient care. Provide statistical reports and information for analysis, program planning, and decision-making. Provide guidance to inpatient nurse managers and Flex Staff in budget development and implementation, recommending cost-containing programs, equipment, and methodologies. Review and revise existing programs/projects for increased productivity, cost-effectiveness, and quality improvement. Function as a nurse resource person in assisting other departments programs and projects. Recommend investments in new technologies/equipment. Interview and evaluate the hiring of nurse managers, charge nurses, and other key nursing division personnel. Assist program/unit operations leaders with orienting new nurse managers and recommending and/or providing ongoing educational programs and guidance to inpatient nurse managers. Participate in SRAlab/ABMC committees as assigned. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Reporting Relationships: Reports directly to the Executive Director Strategic Alliances. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Masters degree in nursing or a related appropriate field preferred. Current registration to practice professional nursing in the state of California. Certification in rehabilitation nursing strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of nursing experience including 5 years of professional management experience including both fiscal responsibility and quality of care responsibility. Demonstrated abilities in research, program development, and implementation. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; previous teaching experience preferred. Interpersona
