Retrieves and files information in accordance with established procedures. Provides prompt and efficient retrieval of exams for immediate on-site viewing as needed by department or by other healthcare professionals. Faxes documents as needed.
Oversees file room operations on a daily basis.
Acts as a resource for other file clerks.
Assists supervisors and managers with projects as needed and participates in special projects as deemed necessary.
Provides highest level of customer service to all staff and patients.
If working in a medical office, oversees the processing all third-party requests, incoming calls, practice medical records buckets, labeling of documents, and requests from providers and nurses.
If working in a medical office, sends all pre-operative clearance paperwork to appropriate staff. Develops proficiency in multiple database programs to retrieve records from hospitals and laboratories as required.
If working in a medical office, executes prompt retrieval of reports for review by authorized individuals while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned and adapts to changing departmental demands.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
No experience needed. Medical Records experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of clerical and filing organization.
