About the role

Plan loads out of specific geographical region; review capacity and details of loads in order to efficiently plan available capacity; work with United and hauling partners to cover all tonnage Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Monitor van operators for next assignment Plan household goods shipments originating in a specific geographic location Analyze loads for viability based on load dates, delivery dates, line haul and revenue per mile Assign van operators to shipments according to factors such as: origin and destination, weight of shipment and customer requirements Monitor deviation from planned size of shipment and expected delivery time Equitably distribute work and revenue among van operator fleet Investigate late arrivals due to equipment failure and reports to necessary parties involved Direct activities of van operators by phone, e-mail and other tracking measures Confer with move coordinators to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, or delayed household shipments Establish delivery routes for most advantageous use of time, fuel and driver efficiency Build relationships with van operators, ensuring a positive work environment and overall retention of driver workforce Job skills required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills required Strong analytical and problem solving skills Excellent attention to detail and follow through Ability to work under deadlines and specific time frames Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work with minimum supervision

Requirements

• Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Ability:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Math Ability:
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Computer Skills:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word; MS Excel and AS 400.
