The full performance, Emergency Department (ED) Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Individual Occupational Requirements: Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. GS - 7 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Prior medical/hospital experience with prior medical military or corpsman training. Observes patient status and keeps licensed personnel informed of any change in condition; Responds to medical emergencies as a part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), Code Blue team, or medical transport team; Sets up equipment and surgical instrumentation and Performs observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a full year of graduate education (18 semester hours) meets the requirements for GS-7 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. (Transcripts Required). OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond undergraduate. Preferred Experience : Experience in the military as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat, Medic, Medical Technician is highly desired.
