Your Role at Cabot: Cabot is seeking Sr Process Operators to join the Battery Materials team located at Cabot's primary CNS production and R&D facility in Billerica, MA. These positions are responsible for running chemical process systems and related equipment for both production and R&D work in a safe manner and following plant safety policies and procedures. Additionally, these positions work on Cabot's best-in-class product of conductive carbon nanomaterial, that has a range of applications including plastic composites and batteries. Carbon Nanostructures (CNS) are produced in a unique roll-to-roll Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process. The Cabot CNS team will provide a thorough training/shadowing program to ensure new members are fully cross trained in all aspects of the production process including quality control testing and basic maintenance. Following the training program, new members will transition into their dedicated shifts listed below: 2nd Shift: Operational hours 2PM - 11PM (Shift Differential +$1.25) 3rd Shift: Operational hours 10PM - 7AM (Shift Differential +$2.25) How You'll Make an Impact: Controls chemical process and operates all related equipment using the distributed control system (LabView). Follows work instructions (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Product Quality Control Plans (PQCP). Adjusts controls to regulate variables for production units when needed. Performs set up procedures to prepare systems for operation. Monitors and troubleshoots the process to maintain required operating conditions. Conducts in process Quality Control testing. Performs minor maintenance on process and support equipment in production. May use business management system to enter work orders and requisitions as needed. Transfer and move materials. Assists in packaging product for shipment and in loading/unloading product or raw materials. Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements. May provide training and guidance to operators in training. Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification Performs other duties as assigned. Keeps work area safe and clean. What You'll Bring to Cabot: High School diploma or equivalent. Additional course of study and licensing for chemical preferred. 2-5 years of chemical operation experience is required. Manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to details. General mechanical aptitude. Able to read and interpret complex operating instructions. Basic knowledge of shop mathematics in order to understand Quality Control Results High level of safety awareness and attention to details. Written, verbal communication and active listening skills. Capacity to cross-train with other operating units. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment. Organizational and record keeping skills. Familiarity with computers as a user. Flexibility in performing changing assignments. Will be required to work off-shift hours. Ability to lift 50lbs and use material handling equipment. Ability to remain calm and react effectively in critical situations. Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region. How We'll Support Your Success: The pay for this role starts at $29.69-$40.83 an hour. However, when the assigned shifts start, shift differentials begin: 2nd Shift: +$1.25 and 3rd Shift: +$2.25. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skill, qualifications, and experience. In addition, all positions are eligible for health benefits on the first day of employment, 401K savings plans, vision, dental and annual bonus based on company performance.
