About the role
The Heavy Equipment Operator - Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment throughout the day to produce high quality compost and mulch. Job Description Essential Job Functions: Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times Perform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated daily Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfully Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision Work overtime as needed Performs other duties as needed by direct supervision. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma and/or GED Must be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment Effective verbal and written communication skills Exceptional organizational skills Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
Requirements
- Bilingual - English/Spanish.
- Class A or B commercial driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Physical/Environmental Demands:
- Physical: Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, & smelling continuously.
- Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously.
- Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, & wrist motion continuously.
- Environmental: Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions & noise continuously.
- Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.
- Works outside only.
- Salary: $25.24 - $28.05 per hour
