A bachelor's degree and collegiate playing experience are required. A master's degree is preferred.
Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level or as a high school head coach is desirable.
Experience coaching or playing in a defensive position is required and a strong understanding of defensive formations and strategies is desirable. Experience coaching goalies and/or face-off athletes is preferred.
Must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student-athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship on and off the playing field. Role model appropriate behavior and conduct to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
Strong understanding of various coaching techniques and a willingness to learn new methods of instruction.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment demonstrating communication and leadership skill.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Campus Safety and Welfare Responsibilities:
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with the Clery Act. This position is required to report Clery qualifying crimes to the Department of Public Safety and complete annual training about your reporting responsibilities under the law.

Additional Information
In collaboration with the head coach, the assistant coach helps plan, coordinate, and execute practices, assists with game strategy and player development, and assists with managing the substitution box and coaching the goalies and/or the face-off athletes. Specific coaching assignments and responsibilities depend on the applicant's years of experience and areas of expertise. Coaches will demonstrate commitment to the W&L philosophy by emphasizing academic priorities for student-athletes as well as the importance of good citizenship on and off the playing field.

Essential Functions
Coaches team members individually and in groups.
Develops and implements lacrosse tactics and strategies. Mentor and train players to enhance skill sets.
Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with conference and university regulations.
Develops scouting reports, completes film analysis, and helps strategize game plans
Assists in coordinating recruiting efforts including identifying, evaluating, and contacting prospective student-athletes and ensures timely submission of their academic records for admissions. Maintains a recruitment database.
Communicates consistently with the head coach, administration, and peers about program goals, status, and needs.
Assists head coach with team travel logistics, including lodging, transportation, and meal arrangements in accordance with budgetary restrictions.
Teaches 2-3 physical education courses annually as required for student graduation criteria. Substitute teaches as needed when requested by Head Coach and Director of PE.
Ensures compliance with all Association, Conference, and University rules by athletes and supporting staff.
Serves as an event manager for home contests.
Other related duties as assigned.
