Lead compliance for the sites environmental programs related to water (NPDES permit management and drinking water requirements)
Manage the site Land Application permit for wastewater sludge management.
Conduct all SARA reporting (Tier 2 & TRI).
Oversee the site spill reporting program for IDEM and EPA spill notification.
Program ownership for other compliance programs such as CWC, TSCA, & FIFRA.
Support sustainability projects and ESG reporting.
Conduct new project evaluations to determine impact on environmental programs (RCRA, Air, Wastewater, etc.).
Support the RCRA hazardous waste program.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and corporate ESH standards and requirements
Support safe design and operation of chemical processes, including risk assessments and engineering controls
Provide ESH technical guidance to manufacturing, engineering, and project teams
Develop and deliver ESH training, policies, and procedures
Conduct audits, inspections, and investigations; implement corrective actions
Monitor regulatory changes and maintain site compliance with applicable laws
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies
Prepare compliance reports, analyze ESH data, and present performance metrics
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support ESH management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
Mentor and support development of engineers and ESH professionals
Participate in emergency response, incident management, and on-call support as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related engineering/science field
Minimum 10+ years of ESH experience in a high-hazard pharmaceutical or chemical process industry environment.
Experience managing NPDES permits and compliance strategies.
Professional certification preferred (e.g., CIH, CSP, PE, WWTP Certifications)
Demonstrated ability to improve environmental, safety, and health performance
Ability to make authoritative decisions and recommendations on ESH matters
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and implement technical solutions
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, chemistry, etc.)
Excellent project management, organizational, and technical application skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels
Ability to represent the site during regulatory inspections and audits
Capability to develop and implement sustainable compliance action plans
Proficiency in documentation and computer applications
Ability to work in and support a 24/7 operational environment, including on-call availability
Willingness to travel occasionally
Strong commitment and passion for environmental, safety, and health practices
