About the role

The Roku TV Technology Engineering team drives innovation and develops proof-of-concept designs for next-generation TV features and reference architectures. Our focus areas include core TV technologies such as Picture Quality, Display, Audio, and System Architecture , with the goal of creating breakthrough solutions and bringing them to production. We are seeking a System Architect to join our growing Roku TV team in Hsinchu, Taiwan . Roku is looking for a Consumer Products System Architect with deep experience in TV system architecture, strong hands-on technical skills, and excellent communication abilities to collaborate across internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will work closely with industry partners, SoC vendors, universities, ODMs, and component suppliers . Your responsibilities include:
  • Innovate and define future TV system architectures in collaboration with Product Management, engineering teams, and external vendors
  • Engage with SoC and component vendors to understand and influence their technology roadmaps
  • Own and manage an innovation roadmap to integrate hardware differentiation into Roku OS
  • Collaborate with Roku engineering teams to identify opportunities for unique user experiences and the hardware capabilities required to deliver them
  • Design and prototype hardware and software proof-of-concepts using Roku reference designs and/or FPGA prototyping
  • Stay ahead of technology and market trends
  • Participate in standards bodies to help shape future industry standards
  • Solve complex technical challenges impacting our users
  • You will leverage your leadership skills, business acumen, and technical expertise in areas such as AI/ML, Picture Quality, Display, Audio, and Connectivity to set the system architecture direction for Roku TVs.
  • We're excited if you have
  • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles within TV engineering
  • Proven track record in architecting system solutions for consumer products
  • Hands-on experience in several of the following: AI/ML, SoC Architecture, Picture Quality, Video Processing, Display Technology, Audio Processing
  • Strong understanding of hardware and TV manufacturing processes
  • Solid knowledge of Linux, development tools, open-source software, and SoC development
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor presentations to different audiences
  • Ability to prototype through both hardware (e.g., FPGA) and software
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
  • Extensive network across technology partners, industry, and academia in relevant domains
  • Strong understanding of TV component cost structures and emerging technologies that can reduce costs
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
