The production scheduler will utilize MRP as well as knowledge of the manufacturing processes to anticipate and resolve problems and enhance customer service. The position requires the incumbent to communicate clearly and openly with both operations personnel regarding production schedules and the supply chain group regarding capacity and material issues. The incumbent must actively participate in problem solving and process improvements with operations, team members and customer service. The senior planner will provide mentorship and back-up coverage for other roles within the department including material planning and other process scheduling. WHAT YOU GET TO DO Create and maintain production schedules for each operation to successfully meet customer demand while also optimizing inventory and minimizing machine changeovers. Analyse and create operating schedules that support maximizing machine and labor efficiency and efficiently utilize material and storage space resources while meeting customer requirements. Manage scheduling and confer with department leads to evaluate production schedule status. Communicate daily with internal and external customers as to status of all open orders/jobs. Provide management visibility over work-in-progress, material availability, and potential production issues, ensuring that personnel, equipment, tools, materials and services are available as needed. Work with internal customers to coordinate schedules and establish priorities when required to prevent customer service issues. Make or recommend revisions to planned production schedules as necessary when schedules cannot be met, including preparing back-up schedules. Provide solutions, creative and logistical, to problems concerning production, shipments, shortages, changes and cancellation of orders. Manage the volume of work orders issued to the floor. Ensure work orders are issued to the floor with both available raw stock and/or capacity available. Utilize a combination of created and released work orders to manage the flow of work sent to production while maintaining a short-term finite schedule. Provide mentorship and back up coverage for material planners and production schedulers. Lead projects or project steps within a broader project related to capital or customer mix changes. WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience totalling 7+ years. Experience working in Supply Chain, preferably with experience in some or all of these areas: Production Scheduling, Logistics, Operations, Customer Service, or Finance.
