Job Description: Position: Head - Materials & Logistics Location: Sanand, Gujarat, India (Onsite) Reporting to: Sr. Director - Materials & Logistics and Quality The Materials/Logistics Head plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of materials planning, procurement, inventory management, and logistics operations for the plant. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional organizational skills to ensure efficient and cost-effective supply chain management. Main Duties & Responsibilities Materials Planning and Procurement: Develop and implement materials planning strategies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials, components, and equipment for manufacturing operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to determine material requirements based on production schedules and demand forecasts. Identify potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strategic partnerships to optimize pricing, delivery, and quality of materials. Monitor supplier performance, manage vendor relationships, and resolve any issues or discrepancies. Sound knowledge of Material planning tools like MRP, ASCP, Min-Max, Kan-Ban, PFEP etc. Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory management policies and procedures to optimize inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts. Conduct regular inventory analysis to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and develop strategies for their disposition or reduction. Coordinate with production and demand planning teams to ensure accurate demand forecasting and alignment with inventory levels. Implement and maintain an effective inventory tracking system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory records. Sound knowledge of inventory management parameters like EOQ, MOQ, SPQ, DOH, Safety Stock etc. Logistics and Transportation: Oversee transportation and logistics activities, including inbound and outbound shipments, to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods. Coordinate with logistics service providers to optimize transportation routes, modes, and costs while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor transportation performance, track shipments, and resolve any issues or delays that may arise. Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements in logistics operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Familiarity with Export promotion schemes for Duty Free import, Duty Drawback and other Export incentives. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage the materials/logistics team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and motivated team. Set clear objectives and KPIs for the team, monitoring performance and initiating corrective actions as needed. Develop training programs and provide ongoing development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team members. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including customs regulations, import/export laws, and safety standards. Mitigate supply chain risks by identifying potential vulnerabilities, implementing contingency plans, and establishing business continuity strategies. Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures Sourcing and supplier development : Exposure to the sourcing of the Metal Fabrications, Hydraulic and Electrical components Familiarity to the supplier assessment and supplier development. ECO implementation and CAPA implementation Experience & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus 10 - 15 years of Industry experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of various Export Promotion Schemes and FTA benefits with various countries Domestic Inbound transport movement / Milk run Vehicle management Domestic out bound transport movement for heavy equipment Knowledge of Taxation / Entry Tax
