Apply for the opportunity to join our team dedicated to preserving and protecting Texas waters. 1.0 Job Summary Under direction, responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment associated with the operation of the wastewater treatment plant. 2.0 Typical Duties and Responsibilities 2.1 Perform various tasks associated with maintenance activities. 2.2 Assist in the make-ready and repair of pumps, motors piping, tanks, etc. 2.3 Break down pumps, motors, gears, etc. in preparation for repair. 2.4 Perform and document preventative maintenance tasks such as, lubrication, non destructive testing, vibration readings and oil sampling on designated equipment. 2.5 Inspect equipment on established frequency for operational efficiency or signs of wear. 2.6 Assist in the development of plant SOPs. 2.7 Communicate with supervisor and all plant personnel. 2.8 Read, interpret, and assist in the implementation of maintenance SOPs and work plans. 2.9 Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to during maintenance activities. 2.10 Perform other duties, as assigned. 3.0 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 3.1 Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of motors, valves, pumps, gears, etc. in mechanical equipment. 3.2 Ability to read and understand written instructions and technical manuals. 3.3 Ability to write work orders and fill out equipment maintenance records. 3.4 Ability to operate oil filtering system. 3.5 Ability to operate assigned vehicle, cart, forklift, etc. 3.6 Ability to use hand tools. 3.7 Ability to communicate orally by radio and telephone. 4.0 Environmental conditions 4.1 Work is performed indoors and outdoors in extreme heat (100°F) and cold (32°F) in all weather conditions. 4.2 Work is performed indoors and outdoors at an industrial setting. 5.0 Education, certification, and experience required 5.1 High school diploma or equivalent. 5.2 Experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical equipment. 5.3 Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's license. 6.0 Physical requirements 6.1 Ability to stand and twist upper body while performing job functions such as filling gear boxes with oil. 6.2 Ability to occasionally sit, walk, kneel, crouch/stoop, and climb ladders while performing various job tasks. 6.3 Ability to push, shove, and pull heavy drums filled with oil weighing up to 40 lbs. 6.4 Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. 7.0 Summary The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the person assigned to this job.
