Our Identity and Access Management (IAM) team secures access for millions of users and protects the integrity of over 2.3 million connected devices worldwide. IAM is the foundation of our security posture, enabling customers to trust Samsara with their most critical data-while ensuring a seamless user experience at scale. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive innovation and resilience across Samsara's IAM platform. In this role, you will combine technical depth, security expertise, and leadership to shape our authentication and authorization strategy. You'll work across the stack-from frontend and backend services to data storage and integrations-while mentoring teammates and influencing technical direction for one of the most business-critical areas of Samsara's platform. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US or Canada. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role. In this role, you will: Design and evolve IAM foundations for AI Agents, including agent identity, permission guardrails, and enterprise-grade audit systems. Design and build authentication and authorization systems that are reliable, standards-based, and performant for millions of global users. Propose and implement technical solutions, guide system architecture, and ensure features are integrated across the stack (frontend, backend, databases, APIs, AI agents). Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering to solve complex, cross-functional risk and governance challenges. Support and develop engineers on the team through code reviews, design discussions, and career development.
