Read, research, interpret and analyze gas service and gas main as-built data, field notes, system records, and detailed reports to update GIS system of record. 15%
Update the Company's approved system of record for tracking mapping and data attribution updates in a timely manner. 5%
Provide quality control and assurance review of GIS analytical work as directed by supervision 10%
Communication with State and municipal offices for underground utility information to support Engineering design projects as directed by supervision. 10%
Lead special Design and Delivery GIS projects as directed by supervision. Responsible for technical contributions to project/process team, but not limited to, testing, debugging, and training of new systems as needed. 5%
Works collaboratively with Engineering, Construction, Operations, Sales, and other business areas to support requests for geospatial data. 5%
Required Qualifications
Must have experience with computers, printers, large-format plotters (3 in 1 print, copy, scan) and office copiers.
Must have formal GIS Editing certification or be willing to obtain within one year.
Must be able to work independently while prioritizing and organizing time to meet deadlines.
Must be able to complete repetitive tasks with an elevated level of accuracy.
Must be able to interpret and transcribe field notes to and from both paper and electronic records.
Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively. Must be able to write and print legibly.
Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
A bachelor's degree in Geography, Engineering or Computer Science with at least 4 or more years of work experience in any combination of, but not limited to, gas engineering and operations, land surveying, and GIS mapping and analysis.
An Associate's degree in Geography, Engineering or Computer Science with at least 6 or more years of work experience in any combination of, but not limited to, gas engineering and operations, land surveying, and GIS mapping and analysis.
High school diploma/GED or four year technical high school program degree providing CAD and/or equivalent civil/mechanical coursework may be considered with 8 or more years of work experience as outlined above.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Requirements
Experience with AutoCAD is highly desired, with AutoCAD formal certification given priority.
Previous experience with interpreting and analyzing civil and/or mechanical as-built drawings and associated documentation is preferred.
-Previous working experience in the natural gas distribution industry preferred.
Previous work experience with document management applications preferred.
