Mission Brief As the Project Buyer for the Ground Systems projects, you will be at the heart of our infrastructure expansion, acting as the procurement specialist for the new test sites and launch pad projects. You will ensure that all necessary equipment, construction services, and technical systems are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with project timelines and quality standards. Your Role in Our Space Mission Collaborate with Ground Systems engineering and construction teams to understand and define procurement requirements for projects such as new test sites or launch pad construction. Source and purchase specialized materials, equipment, and services necessary for the design, construction, and commissioning of Ground Systems infrastructure. Work closely with the Sr. Strategic Buyer (GSE) to leverage existing supplier relationships, negotiated contracts, and technical expertise for relevant equipment and services. Lead procurement activities for project-specific items, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Develop and manage project procurement schedules, aligning with overall project timelines and milestones. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and contractors for project-related purchases, seeking optimal cost, quality, and delivery outcomes. Generate, process, and administer detailed procurement documentation (e.g., purchase orders, contracts, invoices), ensuring all records are accurately completed, properly stored, and maintained for traceability and audit purposes. Monitor and track project procurement budgets and expenditures, reporting on variances and implementing cost control measures. Identify and manage risks related to supply, logistics, and compliance, developing mitigation strategies to support project success. Ensure adherence to export control, customs, and dangerous goods regulations as applicable to project purchases. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to resolve procurement-related issues and ensure seamless project execution. Participate in project review meetings, providing procurement updates and contributing to lessons learned for continuous improvement. Support other procurement projects and tasks as needed during periods of low activity in Ground Systems projects. Qualification Checklist Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field Proven experience in project-based procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management-preferably within construction, engineering, or technical infrastructure projects Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier management Familiarity with construction materials, technical equipment, and services relevant to ground systems or industrial infrastructure Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for cost control, documentation, and compliance Effective communication skills in English (written and spoken); German or other relevant language skills are a plus Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, especially engineering and construction professionals Problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach Proficiency in SAP or other ERP procurement systems and MS Office.
