Execute engineering responsibilities within the NPD process, including requirements definition, concept development, design release, validation, and production readiness.
Provide strong technical leadership for assigned systems, driving design direction and influencing cross-functional engineering teams to achieve optimized vehicle-level solutions.
Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned sub-systems, leading design reviews, supporting program reviews, and resolving complex technical issues.
Manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal oversight, proactively identifying risks, driving mitigation plans, and ensuring on-time delivery of key milestones.
Develop and own DFMEA inputs and DVP&R activities; support validation testing, analyze results, and drive corrective actions and design improvements.
Evaluate system-level interactions and integration impacts across chassis, body, and vehicle systems, including considerations for both new production and fielded vehicles.
Lead detailed design reviews and ensure designs meet functional, durability, and manufacturability requirements.
Perform and guide engineering analyses (e.g., driveline geometry, vibration isolation, center of gravity, structural loading) to support sound engineering decisions.
Collaborate directly with suppliers to define requirements, evaluate components, and develop custom solutions (e.g., cooling systems, BTMS), ensuring successful integration and product release.
Manage Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) and coordinate materials to support prototype builds, testing, and development activities.
Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Purchasing to support build events, resolve production issues, and ensure seamless implementation of new designs.

About Pierce, an Oshkosh company
At Pierce Manufacturing, we build trucks that protect people and communities around the world. To our team, there is no room for anything less than providing the absolute best. Since 1913, building truck bodies on Model T Ford chassis in an old converted church has evolved to creating highly customized, carefully designed and engineering pumpers, aerials, tankers and rescue units that have no equal. Today, you'll find more than 30,000 Pierce apparatuses on the road that are making a difference in people's lives, every day. To us, every step in the process of building our trucks is personal. From innovation and expertise, to the customization and service. Our trucks are designed to perform under the toughest conditions.
The Sr Engineer - Mechanical - NPD designs functional, reliable and cost effective, heavy duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles. Provide integration and execution support for vehicle and component design.
